The Astronaut Principle

Launching a new website in these unprecedented times may seem to many a little optimistic. However, in our 1st Blog we share what we call the “Astronaut Principle” and encourage others to work towards a positive outcome….

Currently our world is in the grip of the Covid -19 pandemic and everyone has been affected -physically, emotionally, financially, psychologically or socially and we all have a long way yet to travel on this particular journey.

So, in our 1st Blog, on our new website, which we are launching to celebrate our 1st full year as a business, we share a positive outlook but with a serious message.

Astronauts dedicate their lives and careers to discovery with the aim of leaving this earths atmosphere to enter a world of new experiences few people have shared, only to return to their role back on earth - but greatly enhanced and wiser for their experiences.

Now relating this back to our career, business and indeed personal lives, sjl advisory would encourage anyone who has been, or is experiencing, a career or business change to use the “Astronaut Principle”.

In essence we have all been forced to change our outlook, our approach. Now is the time to push yourself to learn new skills, to change the business strategy, the sales approach or core market.

It is very often the case that in your career you may have to leave your employer, or previous role, in order to grow, gain experience and return wiser or find another career path that is more fulfilling but in another direction than you first thought.

So as difficult as it is, use the current unprecedented and difficult times to try new approaches, learn a trick, read a book, sign up to training or education and start adding to your skill set.

As a football fan my team’s motto is “out of darkness cometh light” and as a business leader I’d translate this to mean that even in these incredibly challenging times opportunity will present itself.
